HIGHLIGHTS

• The mystery voice on the phone was finally revealed, and it wasn't who most people expected.
• A championship match could be getting a third participant after what happened Friday night.
• Several major names are still without a WrestleMania spot.

WWE is seemingly building the WrestleMania 42 card to the last possible minute. With just two weeks remaining on the Road to WrestleMania, we may have seen more layers being added to the show on Friday night's episode of SmackDown. Let's take a look at the confirmed card and what could still change.

What Happened With Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton?

Pat McAfee's return to WWE was shocking as he was revealed as the voice on the phone speaking to Randy Orton the last few weeks. It feels like McAfee is being used to usher in something new. I don't want to say a new era, but it would be nice especially if it leads to Orton and McAfee getting their own faction.

In any case, the table is set for something special to happen at WrestleMania 42 with the Orton and Rhodes clash. McAfee hit Cody with a low blow before Orton attacked with a chair. Rhodes returned later and compared McAfee's role to Disco Inferno joining the nWo.

Is the US Title Match Becoming a Triple Threat?

All signs point to the U.S. title match becoming a triple threat. Sami Zayn took advantage of Carmelo Hayes' injury and it seems like the latter will be plugged into the WrestleMania 42 clash for the US title with Trick Williams.

Zayn retained over Hayes with a Helluva Kick while the referee was checking on Hayes' injured knee. Trick Williams attacked Zayn afterward with Lil Yachty providing the distraction.

What Else Happened on SmackDown?

Jade Cargill’s faction continues to move forward with almost no chemistry. The same could be said for Rhea and Jade. Plugging IYO SKY in was predictable and she’ll probably be ringside for the match. I like the tension between the MFT and Tama Tonga. I’m expecting a face turn for Tama Tonga sometime soon.

The women's tag-team championship has the least momentum. I'm hoping the ladies put on a better show than what we've been seeing of late. Bliss and Charlotte beat Bayley and Lyra before the Irresistible Forces attacked all teams. Uncle Howdy beat Tama Tonga in a match that saw Solo accidentally cost his partner the win.

Where Does the Full WrestleMania 42 Card Stand?

As of now, LA Knight, The Street Profits, Bianca Belair, Giulia and Tiffany Stratton are all still without a spot. Two weeks remain and the card still has room to grow.
