It's been an extremely impressive second half for the Boston Red Sox, but the same can't be said for the New York Yankees.
The Yankees, who have played well throughout the year at 65-51, are only a half-game ahead of Boston at the moment. About a month and a half ago, there was a strong argument to be made that the Red Sox should have moved on from every top player on their roster who had value and was a veteran, meaning New York didn't seem to worry about them too much.
However, that hasn't been the case any longer, as both teams are right in the mix to not only make the playoffs, but impact each other heavily by stealing a wild-card spot or winning the division instead of the other one.
That's something a New York youngster has understood, adding that Boston playing this well should motivate the Yankees.
“They’re right on our ass. We got to pick it up,” Cam Schlittler told The Post. “I don’t know how that doesn’t motivate us a little bit, just with the position Tampa’s in [leading the division by 4 ¹/₂ games], Boston’s right there. I think [we] got to play better baseball if [we] want to solidify ourselves for a playoff spot and try to go win the division.
Schlittler has run into a lot of comments from Red Sox fans in the past. The Massachusetts native has said things to Red Sox fans, and Red Sox fans have said things to him. It seems like he understands how well Boston has played, so it's good to see him give credit where credit is due.

Officials are optimistic that it'll be a short delay judging by the radar.
One small blip of green and yellow was on the map when the horn sounded, but the sun was still shining as players exited the course.
Beau Hossler holds a one-stroke lead at 17-under on the 16th hole. Michael Brennan and Tom Kim shot 7-under par 63s to be in second and third, respectively, at 16-under and 15-under.
Friday's round was delayed around the same time and resumed in just 34 minutes.
