Chargers GM Joe Hortiz: "High" priority on Derwin James spending his whole career here

· Yahoo Sports

Safety Derwin James has been with the Chargers since entering the NFL in 2018 and the team would like to see him continue to wear their uniform through the end of his playing days.

Visit somethingsdifferent.biz for more information.

James is moving into the final year of his current contract and General Manager Joe Hortiz said last month that he anticipated an acceleration of talks about a new deal after the draft. It's almost June now and Hortiz said on Up & Adams that getting something done remains at the top of his list of priorities.

"It's high, it’s high," Hortiz said. "I’ve told the story, in Baltimore we had Derwin up there as the number one player on our board in that draft, you know, the No. 1 player available when we were picking. And we took a trade back and he got picked. I said to him when I first met him, I'm like, 'Gosh, you should've been a Raven. We traded away from you, but I'm glad you're not because I'm here now.' He's such a special, special leader and person. Like Justin [Herbert], the talent is real and it's there, but the leader and motivator and energy he gives to everybody within the organization, throughout the entire building, it's so unique. One of the best I've ever been around in terms of leadership, talent and character."

James has been both productive and durable over recent seasons and he'll get a chance to continue to do both for the Chargers as long as all goes well at the negotiating table.

“He’s given them something a bit different”: Rooney crowns Gyokeres signing of the season as Arsenal lift the league

Wayne Rooney believes Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres has been the Premier League signing of the season.

Visit esporist.com for more information.

Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP for a fee of around £54m last summer and has scored 21 goals in 54 games across all competitions.

The Swedish striker has faced criticism at periods during the campaign, but improved across the second half of the season.

The 27-year-old is only the third Arsenal player to score 20+ goals in their debut season in thePremier League era, after Thierry Henry and Alexis Sanchez.

Rooney believes Gyokeres has been the difference-maker for Arsenal, who have ended a 22-year wait for the Premier League title this season.

Asked who has been the Premier League's best transfer, Rooney had no hesitation in naming Gyokeres as his pick.

"Gyokeres. I think he is," Rooney told The Wayne Rooney Show forBBC Sport.

"(Granit) Xhaka's been brilliant, but I think what he's brought to Arsenal is what they needed. Obviously finishing second in the last three years, I think he's given them something a bit different and that's been a big factor in them winning the league."

During the Delhi tour, Vijay is also scheduled to inaugurate a statue of Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar installed by the Tamil Nadu government at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

The visit comes weeks after Vijay assumed office as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister following a massive electoral victory by his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

On May 10, Vijay took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marking a major political shift in the state and ending the decades-long dominance of the DMK and AIADMK in state politics.

The TVK emerged as the single-largest party in the Assembly elections, winning 108 seats and later securing support from Congress, Left parties, VCK and IUML to form the government.
