Cubs' Struggles Should Lead to Ideal Phillies Trade

· Yahoo Sports

The Philadelphia Phillies moving on from one of their big prospects wouldn't come as much of a surprise at this trade deadline, though there are some others in the system who could be traded, even if they aren't as highly regarded as some of the other top players.

Regardless of what the Phillies do, the focus has to be on getting better on both sides of the baseball, especially on the offensive side of things, by adding a right-handed hitting outfielder. I continue to express my concerns about actually landing a right-handed-hitting outfielder, as there truly aren't many viable options available.

As we look back over the past few years, that's been somewhat the case for the Phillies, though I don't think it excuses Dave Dombrowski's inability to find the player his team desperately needs. In a recent trade proposal, the Phillies would finally do just that, though it comes at the cost of one of their more intriguing prospects in the form of a 21-year-old.

Philadelphia Phillies get: OF Seiya Suzuki

Chicago Cubs get: 2B/3B Aroon Escobar

“It's a simple one-for-one transaction that sends Suzuki to the Phillies in exchange for prospect Aroon Escobar. This deal, while perhaps controversial, would make sense for both sides.

“The Philies would be acquiring Suzuki, a right-handed-hitting outfielder they could desperately use. But they would pay a steep price in Aroon Escobar, one of their top prospects. While both fan bases would likely find reason to dislike this trade, there's reason to believe both teams would be willing to go through with it,” Zachary Rotman wrote.

I really like Suzuki as an offensive player.

Defensively speaking, we're looking at one of the worst offenders in baseball, and that's a cause for concern. Not that it's the end-all, be-all, as the Phillies are probably more worried about how things look offensively, but it's something that needs to be considered in a potential trade. Suzuki has a lot of pop in his right-handed bat and has hit nine home runs this season.

His power numbers are a bit down compared to last year's 32, but there's reason to believe he can get back to that mark.

Lens submit offer for Cheveyo Tsawa

RC Lens have submitted a bid for FC Zurich midfielder Cheveyo Tsawa (19), according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri.

Visit newsbetting.cv for more information.

Last season, Tsawa played 34 times for the Swiss club, scoring twice and registering two assists. He is being heavily linked with an exit from the club this summer. Tavolieri understands that it is Club Brugge who lead the race. It is the Belgian side who are most advanced in talks with the player’s entourage. They are waiting for Tsawa to give the green light to the move before submitting an offer to FC Zurich.

However, in the meantime, Lens, who next season will play in the UEFA Champions League, have joined the race. The Ligue 1 club have even submitted an offer worth €7m, including bonuses. Les Sang et Or need to strengthen their midfield following the exit of Adrien Thomasson; Mamadou Sangaré may follow.

However, for Tsawa’s signature, there is also stiff competition from Portuguese giants Sporting CP.
