ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Auburn High School suddenly is in need of a new head football coach. Former coach Leroy McFadden resigned Wednesday morning.
McFadden and Auburn Athletic Director Cedric Jones both confirmed the resignation when I reached out to them. Neither one was either able or willing to elaborate on why McFadden decided to step down.
McFadden was Auburn’s head coach the past two seasons. Before that he was an assistant coach at Auburn for one season under then head coach Willie Tolon. That was the last time (2023) Auburn finished the regular season with a winning record and made the playoffs. The Knights were only 1-8 last season and 0-9 in 2024, but several of their players still were able to land college offers to play football.
McFadden is also a former student at Auburn High School. His senior year he played at Eden Prairie High in Minnesota where he became “Mr. Football” for the state of Minnesota.
McFadden then played in college at Michigan State under Nick Saban. He later was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.

Regional alignment — Four states, one vision: The Western Region, encompassing the dynamic economies of Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, contributes significantly to India’s industrial output, export earnings, and foreign investment. The ‘Viksit Pascheem’ agenda is deliberately calibrated to align with the development priorities, policy frameworks, and sectoral strengths unique to each state, while collectively advancing the region’s stature as India’s premier engine of growth.
CII’s six-pillar agenda is designed to address each state’s distinct opportunities and challenges. Industry-government forums, state-level policy dialogues, and region-specific knowledge sessions will ensure that the Western Region’s voice shapes national policy with greater impact than ever before.
Strategic Focus Areas 2026–27
Enhancing Global Competitiveness
Advancing Ease of Doing Business
Strengthening International Engagement
Accelerating MSME Growth
Promoting Sustainability
Deepening Member Engagement
Vision 2026–27 — industry, government & society united: The agenda recognises that India’s economic transformation is possible only when industrial growth is inclusive, reaching MSMEs in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, skilling youth in aspirational districts, and ensuring that sustainability is not a cost of doing business but a competitive advantage. CII Western Region will work in close partnership with state governments, regulatory bodies, and civil society to ensure that the benefits of accelerated growth are shared equitably across the region.
Significance:
India stands at an extraordinary inflexion point. The Western Region driving a dominant share of India’s exports, FDI inflows, and industrial output has emerged as the country’s foremost gateway to global markets and a critical engine of its next phase of growth. The ‘Viksit Pascheem’ agenda arrives at a decisive moment, as geopolitical realignments open new avenues for Indian manufacturing, digital transformation accelerates the velocity of enterprise, and sustainability imperatives reshape global supply chains.
CII Western Region’s Annual Meeting brought together industry leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and innovators — making it the most influential platform for shaping the region’s economic trajectory. The Conference on ‘Viksit Pascheem: Driving Growth, Innovation & Global Competitiveness’ featured path-breaking discussions, landmark policy deliberations, and strategic collaborations that will set the tone for India’s western economic corridor for the years ahead.
