Ohio daycare worker convicted of horrific physical abuse of toddlers sentenced to years in prison

· Fox News

An Ohio daycare worker accused of terrorizing toddlers in her care — including repeatedly binding a 2-year-old with tape and leaving the child face down under a blanket — has been sentenced to years behind bars.

Katelyn Ann Strohacker, an employee at Over the Rainbow Children’s Center in Licking County, was convicted on 31 counts, including kidnapping and child endangerment, after entering a no-contest plea. She was sentenced to 8 to 12 years in prison, according to court records obtained by Fox News Digital.

The case began in August 2025 when a concerned parent raised alarms about the treatment of a toddler.

According to court documents, Strohacker used painter’s tape to bind the child and admitted to carrying out the abuse on multiple occasions. In one incident, the child was left restrained until a coworker intervened.

Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage and found the abuse was not isolated. Authorities say video showed Strohacker repeatedly abusing at least eight children over several weeks, including pushing, kicking and yanking toddlers.

In one incident, prosecutors say she purposely shut a child’s finger in a cabinet door.

"The defendant frequently shoved or yanked [the child], including one incident on July 11, 2025, where the defendant purposely shut the victim's finger in a cabinet door," as noted in court documents.

Officials say the impact on the children was severe. Several victims suffered night terrors, separation anxiety and behavioral issues.

Investigators noted Strohacker had worked at the daycare for more than three years and had received "all necessary training and continuing education."

During Friday’s sentencing hearing, emotional parents spoke out about the lasting trauma.

One mother said she hopes Strohacker is "never allowed to be alone with children ever again," according to WSYX.

"May God have mercy on your soul, but I can't — because we pray he doesn't," the mother said.

Another parent described the toll on her young daughter.

"For our daughter, she’s been trapped in a cycle of sleep aggression and night terrors at two years old," the parent said.

Strohacker, who was facing a possible 87 to 92.5 years behind bars, remained largely silent in court, responding only to the judge’s questions, according to KENS5.

Her attorney delivered a brief apology to the victims’ families on her behalf.

The Licking County Sheriff's Office could not immediately be reached by Fox News Digital for comment.

'Francis will forever be remembered as a Bournemouth great'

· Yahoo Sports

Since Bournemouth announced that club legend Simon Francis will be departing at the end of the season, it has caused many supporters to reminisce over the past decade and a half - one where 'Franno' was so integral to the team.

He has played many pivotal roles during his 15-year association with the club, and he will no doubt be missed by all at Bournemouth.

Visit asg-reflektory.pl for more information.

His journey with the Cherries started back in 2011, when he initially joined on loan from Charlton before making his move permanent the following January.

Francis quickly became a consistent and reliable cog in the side, making over 300 appearances for the club, and his leadership qualities also meant he captained the club during one of its most successful periods.

The Cherries were the surprise package of the Championship in 2014-15 and Francis was one of the most consistent performers, which earned him a spot in the PFA team of the season.

Francis started his role as executive assistant for the Cherries in 2021, working under technical director Richard Hughes before being quickly promoted to first-team technical director in 2024, following Hughes' move to Liverpool.

Bournemouth have rightly been lauded for their smart recruitment in recent times - and that will initially be something he is remembered for greatly.

But, as mentioned, he was equally as impressive as a player for the club. Having been overlooked by hometown clubs Nottingham Forest and Notts County, his career then took him from Bradford to Bournemouth - via Southend and Charlton, among other clubs - to captaining Eddie Howe's side in the Premier League.

It is quite remarkable.

A truly memorable playing time for the Cherries, followed by an impressive period as part of the club's recruitment team, Francis will forever be remembered as a Bournemouth great.

2027 NFL Draft potential sleepers: Illinois tight end Christian Abney

· Yahoo Sports

It's never too early for a 2027 NFL mock draft. That said, it's obviously not too soon to look at under-the-radar prospects for next year either. In terms of 2027 draft sleepers to keep an eye on, Illinois senior tight end Christian Abney truly fits the bill. The Ball State transfer brings ideal size at 6'6," 255, with a very high level of athleticism. He has good speed that could effectively be utilized in the vertical passing game.

He transferred to Illinois from Ball State, exactly one year ago today, with two years of eligibility remaining. Coming out of Zionsville (IN) high school, Abney drew interest from Kansas, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Indiana and Kentucky, according to On3.

And Illinois is pretty much reseting their tight end position group this season, so the opportunity is certainly there for Abney. Last year's starter, Tanner Arkin, signed an undrafted free agent deal with the New England Patriots, which ia coincidentally the same franchise where Bielema won his Super Bowl ring in 2018.

Last year's second string tight end, Cole Rusk, transferred to Arizona.

Abney got a decent amount of experience, working behind both of them last season, his first year in a deep and talented Big Ten conference. He discussed the transition of moving from the mid-major MAC to the nation's top collegiate athletic conference.

"I continued to learn how important the fundamentals are," he said during a post spring practice session media opportunity.

"Just the footwork, the hand placement, all that. At this high of a level, it becomes even more important.

"And so that's just been something that I've continued to emphasize and really make sure it becomes more of a habit than ever to work on those type of things."

If he can get more involved in the passing game this fall, and rack up some solid statistics in the receiving department, he'll soon find himself ascending draft boards. The Fighting Illini are completely making over their passing game in 2026, so the opportunities for playing time are wide open right now. Also, offensive coordinator Barry Lunney is one of the better ones out there, as he's an astute, creative play-caller.

“He’s extremely smart," Illini head coach Bret Bielema said of Abney, during the final media opportunity of the 2025-26 academic year.

"He's really a good, tireless worker."

Draft Wire asked Bielema about potential player comps for Abney. Do any come to mind?

"No, he's kind of his own little animal," Bielema responded.

"He's a former quarterback, so he's got that football IQ, it's very natural to him; a very natural thing.

"I think his biggest improvement this spring came in inline tight end play, just playing with his feet underneath him, and playing in the Big 10 here, to play against a higher level.

"Listen, when you're going against Gabe Jacas in practice, it's hard to look good sometimes."

First off, it's good to be your own animal. It grants you the opportunity to set your own standard.

Secondly, Jacas was the first Illini off the boards in last month's NFL Draft, going in the second round, 55th overall to the Patriots.

And it is certainy true that "iron sharpens iron" (as the cliche goes), so scrimmaging against Jacas this past season should help Abney level up his game this upcoming season.

"I think to have the growth that he had this spring should bode well for us in the fall," Bielema added, regarding his tight end with breakout potential this year.
